How to be Saved

So many people believe that being a good person will get you into heaven.  We are here to tell you that is not what the Bible says.  You see sin entered the world through the fall of Adam when he and Eve disobeyed God. Since that time man has been separated from God because of sin.  God realized that man needed a Savior and He sent His own son to be all that we need so that we can live with Him forever.   John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  Another scripture that shows us God’s love for us is Romans 5:8 God demonstrated His own love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.    There was no other way for God to remove the effect of sin except by blood. The shedding of Christ's blood indicated that the penalty for sin had been paid; a perfect sinless life had been sacrificed for the lives of all who have sinned.

Romans 10:9-10 tells us how to be saved- that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Now once you are saved you must know that your life has to change, our old lives are now a thing of the past, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new II Corinthians 5:17.

One of the problems a lot of believers are having is living a saved life, after one has given their life to Christ; you need to get into a bible believing church, preferably one that teaches the whole counsel of God.  At Mercy Seat Church, we teach on the entire bible, from tithing to deliverance.  Let me give you an example of what we are talking about when we say deliverance; think about  a garbage can, it is full of all sorts of things, if not emptied over time, it can attract rats, meaning that before you got saved, you are filled with all sort of things like the garbage can.  Your soul represents that garbage can, meaning it has lust, perversion, bitterness, etc, this is what your life was like before salvation, now that you are saved you have to empty that garbage can, and that process can only happen through deliverance. Now you are able to fulfill or live out the Christian walk that God has intended.  Then we are to ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit.  We have to have the Spirit to replace what we were delivered from.  The bible tells us that the Holy Spirit is our comforter and that the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truths.  Now you are free to love God, with all your might, heart and strength and now you are able to produce fruit. Jesus declared that we are not to save the world, He simply told us to produce fruit and our fruit will remain John 15:16-17.  How does your fruit remain?  We are told not to conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind, Romans 12:2, how do we renew our minds? Well I am glad you asked, we do that through the word of God.  Paul said in that we are to exchange our minds for the mind of Christ, Philippians 2:5.

Now that we have explained salvation please say this prayer,

Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner and have broken your laws. I understand that my sin has separated me from you. I am sorry and I ask you to forgive me. I accept the fact that your son Jesus Christ died for me, was resurrected, and is alive today and hears my prayers. I now open my heart’s door and invite Jesus in to become my Lord and my Savior. I give Him control and ask that He would rule and reign in my heart so that His perfect will would be accomplished in my life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen
